Originally designed "free rinsing" for cleaning eye surgical instruments, the all-in-ONE eye surgical instrument cleaners, render residue free instruments.

Due to the increased awareness of TASS and the most probable causes, the all-in-ONEcleaner eye surgical instrument detergent enzyme lubricant cleaner was developed as a "free rinsing cleaner" for rendering eye surgical instruments that are residue free.

During the field trials it was discovered that the all-in-ONEcleaner eye surgical instrument cleaners performed better than any other product available for removing even the most challenging bioburden, stains, and encrustation. The all-in-ONE is now used for cleaning surgical instruments, scopes, utensils and for; soaking surgical instruments prior to cleaning, manual cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning, and automated instrument washers.

It has been shown that TASS may result from deficiencies in the methods used for cleaning eye surgical instruments and the rinsing that follows. Any cleaning substance not properly rinsed, during the cleaning process, can result in TASS. The UPS-1 Eye Surgical Instrument Cleaning Detergents are "free rinsing", designed to avoid residual cleaning chemicals being left on eye surgical instruments.

Eye Surgical Instrument Cleaners should be Neutral pH and "free-rinsing" to facilitate a residue free instrument surface. This would be instrumental in preventing TASS. In addition, heat-stable bacterial endotoxins in sterilizer reservoirs or water baths may contaminate instruments and should be avoided.

Many cases of TASS result from deficiencies in the methods used for cleaning eye surgical instruments and in the sterilization of the eye surgical instruments. Any cleaning substance used during the cleaning process can result in TASS if enough of it enters the eye. In addition, heat-stable bacterial endotoxins in sterilizer reservoirs or water baths may contaminate instruments. Denatured viscoelastic trapped in eye surgical instruments and cannulas can also result in TASS. When cleaning eye surgical instruments, rinsing is important in preventing TASS.
